I am descended from James and Katherine Lowndes of (Nether) Arthurlie.
They once lived in Nether Arthurlie House, which is now the former St
Mary’s Convent.
This is my family history.

4) Anyone for Tiffin?
Here are photos of a tea set presented to "Mrs. Lowndes of Arthurlie" in
1825 by the Relief Congregation of Dumfries. Captions imbedded in the files
give the inscriptions engraved on each piece.
(Just north of our home in Stafford County, Virginia is the village of
Dumfries in Prince William County.)
